Keeping Intakes Clean.
If Your having an on going battle with growth clogging you your intakes try putting a tablespoon of Bromide into the line. Bromide is a hot tub cleaning agent, like chlorine is for a pool, It is inexpensive and availible at any pool and usually any hardware store. Unlike Chlorine, bromide has a much higher evaporation point, so it lasts longer, and also its less corrosive and easier on your rubber lines. Just close the seacock, take off the offending line, empty your bromide into the fitting, reconnect the line, and open the seacock, the bromide will eat its way through and loosen organic material all the way up the water column in the line.
